The Volunteering Strategic Partnership (formerly known as the Volunteering Good Practice Group) is a group of representatives from a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations who are committed to promoting volunteering and who believe that volunteering is a major social force in today's society.

They also believe that volunteering must be managed effectively in order to ensure that it is of benefit to all parties involved. To this end the Partnership meets regularly to ensure that 'good practice' is achieved wherever possible in the involvement of volunteers.

The purpose of the Partnership is:

To bring together volunteering infrastructure organisations and other key agencies in the district which involve volunteers in the work of their organisations in order to:

1) Promote and develop volunteering in the district by maintaining a strategic overview of volunteering and, in particular, volunteering good practice

2) Monitor the implementation of "Bradford Vision's Policy Statement of Good Practice in Working with Volunteers" throughout the district's voluntary and statutory sectors

3) Engage with key strategic bodies (all sectors) on all current and potential volunteering initiatives.

This site provides you with the opportunity to access and use the documents which have been developed by the Partnership, namely:

• The Policy Statement of Good Practice in working with volunteers (a Bradford Vision policy framework which has also been adopted as policy by Bradford Council)

• 'Good Practice Guidelines' (a set of detailed guidelines to accompany the Policy Statement covering all aspects of work with volunteers e.g. recruitment, training, support etc)

• A Workbook for use in helping your own or other organisations with which you work develop a volunteering policy / procedures

There is no copyright on any of the above and you are welcome to use them for the aims for which they were intended.

In addition the Partnership's protocol is included.

If you / your organisation are within the Bradford district and are interested in becoming involved in either the Volunteering Strategic Partnership or the Volunteer Organisers Forum (a non-membership informal group which meets four times a year to share issues and news about volunteering), or for further information please contact:
